Vikings keep NFL legend
Brett Favre believes he is still capable of leading the Minnesota Vikings (15/2 to win the NFC Championship with Bet365) to a Super Bowl after signing a new one-year contract.
The 40-year-old will start his 20th season as a professional quarterback when the Vikings head to New Orleans Saints on September 9 after surprising many experts by delaying his retirement for another year.
Favre was expected to walk away from the sport at the end of last season after guiding the Vikings to the NFC Championship game, eventually losing out to Super Bowl winners the Saints in over time.
Despite being in the twilight of his career Favre had another exceptional season as the starting quarter-back, throwing 33 touchdowns in the regular season as he broke another set of all-time records.
Despite having won one Super Bowl in his career while with the Green Bay Packers (12/1 Outright Super Bowl XLV) he says he would still love to add another ring to his collection.
“I’d love to win a Super Bowl,” he stated. “But what happens if you don’t? That was the tough part (of the decision).”
Favre returned to training on Wednesday and believes he will be fit for the start of the new season, despite having ankle surgery over the summer.
“There’s nothing on me 100%,” he continued. “There was nothing on me 100% last year or the year before. But the surgeries, I think, have made me a little better. Playing 309 straight games, I can’t complain.”
